He is Risen

Scripture: Matthew 28:1-15

Intro

Welcome to worship today as we celebrate Easter Sunday! This is the day of victory, the cornerstone of our faith, and the reason for our everlasting hope. Easter marks the culmination of Holy Week—a journey from the depths of sacrifice to the heights of resurrection glory. Last Sunday, we began this journey with Palm Sunday, recalling the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. The crowd waved palm branches and shouted, “Hosanna!” expecting an earthly king to provide temporary relief. But Jesus came to fulfill a far greater mission, one of eternal significance. Just three days ago, on Good Friday, we considered the immense cost of our redemption as Jesus bore the weight of our sin on the cross. The cross, once a symbol of shame, became the ultimate expression of God’s love and mercy. And now, today, the tomb is empty! Christ has risen, breaking the power of sin and death. His resurrection assures us of new life, hope, and the promise of eternal life.

A Seismic Shift

The Resurrection caused a seismic shift in the order of things. Before the women arrived at the tomb, an earthquake shook the ground.
