Missions Statement
First Baptist Church Dunkirk desires to follow and carry out our Lord Jesus Christ’s commands in the Great Commission.
“And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” – Matthew 28:18-20 ESV
We will faithfully preach and share the Gospel, make disciples, baptize them, and teach God’s Word here in our local community and church. We will further seek to train, prepare, and support member-missionaries of our church who are called to go to the nations to carry out the Great Commission especially to unreached people groups. We will also partner with others outside our church who we deem as called and biblically qualified to serve as missionaries. We will develop long-term relationships with these partner-missionaries so that we can encourage, pray for, and financially support them as they extend our reach into the world.
We partner with missionaries and organizations focused on sharing the Gospel and discipling believers locally, nationally, and internationally.
We do not publish a list of missionaries here on our website as some may be in difficult fields that are closed to the Gospel. You can learn more at church or by talking to a member of the missions committee.
Partnering
- We will promote a missionary of the month to focus our prayers and learn more about our missionaries.
- We will seek to send short-term mission trips from our own church members to aid and encourage our supported missionaries on the field.
- We will encourage church members to communicate directly with our missionaries on a regular basis.
