Everlasting Father

For to us a child is born to us a son is given; and the government shall be on his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6 ESV

Jesus, the Messiah (Christ in Greek), came as a human yet divine brother so that we might be reconciled to our Heavenly Father. We are adopted as sons and daughters of God and made joint-heirs with Jesus. Adoption is such a beautiful picture of being chosen, wanted and loved.

we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

Romans 8:17

In the middle-east, the oldest son was heir to the largest portion of his father’s estate. He would not typically welcome sharing more of this prize with any additional brothers. Yes Jesus welcomes us into the family and shares God’s riches with us at his own expense (His death).

We have an eternal everlasting Father who loves and provides for His children. All good gifts come from the Father above. Those who respond to God’s call and invitation through Jesus Christ are adopted – chosen by God – and we are secure in his care for all of eternity. Are you part of the family?

May God bless and keep you and your family through the remainder of the Advent season.

Join us Sunday mornings at 9:30 am for Advent worship and God’s Word. We are also gathering for a special candlelight Christmas Eve service at 6 pm.
