The Heart of Christmas Is Love

Scripture: Galatians 4:4-5, Ephesians 1:3-14, 1 Corinthians 13

GOD’S GIFT WAS RIGHT ON TIME

In the fullness of time, Christ came.

It was the exact precise moment in history to send the promised Messiah, his Son, to make the way for the world to be restored.

WE ARE LOVED INTO THE FAMILY

We are offered spiritual adoption into God’s family.

“Adoption is the highest privilege that the gospel offers: higher even than justification. To be right with God, the Judge is a great thing, but to be loved and cared for by God, the Father is greater.”

J.I. Packer

LOVE FREELY RECEIVED IS LOVE FREELY GIVEN

So, this Christmas see the arrival of Jesus as the ultimate gift from God. The kind of gift where the only proper response is to receive it. And then may that immeasurable love you receive from God cause you to live it out and give it out every day of the year.

Take Aways

Have you accepted God’s gift of his Son, Jesus Christ?

Do you believe God loves you unconditionally? Go back and read Ephesians 1 again to remember how much he loves you and lavishes his grace on you. What stands out to you most?

How are you doing at sharing God’s love with others? Love is patient, kind, does not envy or boast, is not arrogant or rude, it doesn’t insist on its own way, it’s not irritable or resentful. What is one specific thing you can do this week for a specific person to show him or her the love of Christ?

You can text me and I will be praying for you to follow through.
