Jesus is our Peace

13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14 For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility 15 by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, 16 and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility.

Ephesians 2:13-16

The Christmas story and “Peace on Earth” mean nothing without an understanding of the hostility that existed before Jesus came to earth, born in a stable. When Sin entered the perfect creation, it brought death, hostility towards others and separation from God. After choosing to listen to the devil instead of God’s life-giving instruction, Adam and Eve immediately blamed each other, they were ashamed of their nakedness as they lost their innocence and they were now afraid of the God who walked and talked with them daily.

All of mankind since that day in the Garden, are born separated from God, alienated from His promises, having no hope and without God. But then Christmas happened! God came to live and walk among people in the birth of His Son, Jesus. Through His blood on the cross, we who were far from God were rough near. Jesus is our peace. He reconciles us to God by His death on the cross and He ended the hostility between us and others. We have access to God in perfect unity through the same Holy Spirit.

Jesus offers peace with God through salvation.

God bless you and your family during this Christmas season. May you know His peace.
